Why is this website created in Microsoft Sharepoint?
Well there isn't one simple answer to this question.... there was a whole bunch of things that lead me to this.
1. Existing infrastructure. I had a bunch of the things I needed to create the site laying around at home, including hardware, software and license
2. I wanted to be free to produce all kinds of content - from Wiki pages to Blogs, from Lists of things to calendars. At the time Sharepoint sounded like a good choice for this.
3. I'm lazy. Yes thats right, I'm lazy. The time it would have taken me to find all the shareware bits to put this together would have been more than I wanted to invest in the project. Getting this site up and running represents about a 4 hour investment of my time from start to finish.
4. I wanted to be different. How many people run their own Sharepoint server at home?
